About Our
Timber Feature Walls and Ceilings
be bold
Are you looking for something to make your space pop, or to introduce some warmth and character to a room or two? Then perhaps consider using solid or engineered flooring on the walls or the ceiling. Let’s take a look at some of the reasons it is such a great option
First is the most obvious, it looks amazing, with such a huge variety of timber species, grades and colours, there is bound to be the perfect timber for your project. No other medium can transform the look and feel of a space like natural timber. Secondly, installation is easy and only requires the one trade, any carpenter or good handyman can do the installation. No need for multiple trades people to complete, which can be a huge money saver. Which brings me to the next point, it is incredibly cost effective especially during a new construction. Material costs can be as low as $45m2 and range up to $150m2, an average price would be $80 to $110m2. Now if you were to compare that to even the cost of plastering a wall, which would need a carpenter to straighten the wall first (this happens in both situations) then a plasterer to hang the sheets, apply multiple coats of topping, then sand. After that, a painter who needs to apply three coats of paint. Then add up all the associated costs, ie, plaster, topping, paints, labour. Quite often the timber option often comes out as the better and cheaper option.
multiple Benefits
speed and convenience
Other advantages are, it goes up very quickly, installation can usually be completed in a day depending on the size of the area, so the results are instant as opposed to any other finishes, plastering and painting can take days, even weeks to finish. They are also very messy, plaster ends up everywhere and paint ends up all over the floor or other surfaces if they are not covered properly. Timber only produces some saw dust that is easily vacuumed up, or the cutting can be done outside further reducing the chance of mess. This all equates to less time involved in construction, a cleaner work environment and minimal disturbance on site.
multiple Benefits
strong and resilient
Timber is strong and can take a knock, plaster cannot, even the smallest knock will result in damage, ranging from a scrape to a dint or worse still a hole. Timber is timeless and never goes out of fashion. However, if down the road you want to change the appearance it can be easily stained or painted. Timber adds value, even though it may be quite cheap to do, it always looks expensive and will increase the value of your home.
